BrightRubric is built to collect as little as possible, and nothing personal from students. This policy explains what we store and why.
What we collect
- From parents: an email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash). If you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) handles your card; we never see or store card numbers.
- Child profiles: a nickname and a grade level only. No name, no email, no age, no other personal information.
- Essays: the practice essays a student writes, their scores, and feedback. A student is identified only by a random device token, never by name.
How essays are scored
To score an essay and generate feedback, its text is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, over an encrypted connection. Essays are stored so a student can revise them and see progress. We do not sell or share essays, and we do not use them to advertise to you.
Not a monitoring service
BrightRubric is a practice tool, not a monitoring or safety service. We do not review your child's essays or send you alerts about what they write.
Retention & deletion
Anonymous practice data from a device that is never linked to a family account is automatically deleted after 180 days of inactivity. A parent can delete a child profile (which permanently removes that child's essays, scores, and progress) or the entire account at any time from the dashboard.
No trackers
We use no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts anywhere in the app.
